Neelay Hath (Urdu: نیلے ہاتھ, lit.'Blue Hands') is a 1989 Pakistani television series written by Shahid Nadeem and directed by Muhammad Azeem.[1][2] The drama was aired during Benazir Bhutto's First Government.[3] The series was also popular in India.[4]

Synopsis

The story revolves around Nabeela Noman, an educated girl who is also a member of a women's rights organisation. She is imprisoned on false charges. Nabeela meets three prisoners who are imprisoned on different false charges.[5][6][2]

Production

Neelay Hath was based on play Barri (The Acquittal), which was written by Shahid Nadeem and staged by Madeeha Gauhar for Ajoka.[2] The critical success of the play in Pakistan and India prompted Nadeem to adapt the play for television.[2]
