Muhammad Nawshad Zamir (born 3 February 1970) is a Bangladeshi barrister and politician.[1] He is the incumbent Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Panchagarh-1 constituency (Panchagarh Sadar, Atwari and Tetulia upazilas) as a member of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) 2026 Bangladeshi general election.[2][3]
Early life and education
Muhammad Nawshad Zamir was born in Dhanmondi, Dhaka in the then East Pakistan, Pakistan. His father, Muhammad Jamiruddin Sircar, is a former acting President, a Speaker, and a minister of Jatiya Sangsad. Nawshad passed his SSC from Dhanmondi Government Boys' High School and HSC from Dhaka College.[1] He earned his bachelor's and master's in law from the University of Dhaka, LLM from Harvard University, master's in taxation from Oxford University and bar-at-law from Lincoln's Inn.[1]
Career
Zamir practiced law as an advocate at the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.[1]
Zamir won the 2026 Bangladeshi general election contesting at the Panchagarh-1 constituency securing 176,169 votes while his nearest opponent National Citizen Party candidate Sarjis Alam got 168,049 votes.[4]
