Miruwa (Nepali: मिरुवा) is the administrative name for Ward Number 2 of Pokhara Metropolitan City in Kaski District, Nepal.[1] It serves as a major cultural and historic gateway to the city's old urban core.
Geography
Miruwa is centrally located in the northern part of Pokhara. It serves as a vital junction connecting the ancient trade routes of the valley. It is bordered by:
- Ward No. 1 (Bagar) to the north and east.
- Ward No. 4 (Gairapatan) to the south
- Ward No. 3 (Nadipur) to the east.
- Ward No. 18 (Sarangkot) to the west and south.
The ward contains several historic neighbourhoods (Toles) including Mohariya Tole, Bhairab Tole, and Bhimsen Tole
Notable Landmarks
- Bindhyabasini Temple: The most famous Hindu temple in Pokhara, situated on a small hillock within this ward. It is a major center for worship and tourism.
- Old Bazaar: A portion of Pokhara's traditional marketplace, featuring Newari-style architecture, starts within the boundaries of Miruwa.
Administration
As a metropolitan ward, Miruwa is governed by a Ward Committee led by an elected Ward Chair. The ward office handles local infrastructure, vital registration, and community development.
