Mert İlbars (born 2002 in Çorum) is a Turkish Greco-Roman wrestler who competes in the 60 kg division. He represents İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor and the Turkish national team in international competitions.

Career

Earlier in his career, he took bronze at the 2022 European U20 Wrestling Championships in Rome.[1]

At the 2023 U23 World Wrestling Championships held in Tirana, İlbars won the bronze medal in the Greco-Roman 60 kg category after defeating Kyrgyz wrestler Aibek Sabyrbekov 9–1 in the bronze medal match.[2]

He claimed the gold medal at the 2024 European U23 Wrestling Championships in Baku, defeating Azerbaijan’s Nihad Guluzade 2–1 in the final.[3]

In 2025, İlbars won the bronze medal at the 2025 European U23 Wrestling Championships in Tirana, beating Ukrainian wrestler Bohdan Hryshyn 5–0 in the bronze medal bout.[4]

At the national level, İlbars won the 60 kg title at the 2025 Turkish U23 Championships held in Sivas, earning selection for the national team.[5]
