Mechani-Kong
Mechani-Kong or Mecha Kong[1] (Japanese: メカニコング, Mekanikongu) is a mecha kaiju (a giant robotic monster) in Toho's kaiju-franchise. He first appeared in The King Kong Show (1966–1967), where he was built by the evil scientist "Dr. Who" (Dr. Hu) in order to fight King Kong.[2]
After abandoning a remake of King Kong vs. Godzilla in 1991, Toho attempted to produce a film called Godzilla vs. Mechani-Kong, however, though Toho had created the live-action Mechani-Kong image, Turner Entertainment demanded payment for using King Kong's image, and the film was dropped in favor of Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah.[2][3]
