Professor Mohammad Rais Uddin (bengali: মোহাম্মদ রইসউদ্দিন) is a Bangladeshi professor and the current Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University (JU). On 16 March 2026, Education Minister A. N. M. Ehsanul Hoque Milan appointed him as the Vice-Chancellor.[1][2][3][4]
Uddin succeeds former Vice-Chancellor Rezaul Karim. He previously served as the Chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies. He is currently the President of the JU Teachers' Association and the General Secretary of the Saada Dal. He previously served as the President of the JU branch of the nationalist pro-BNP teachers' organization UTAB.[5]
Uddin completed his studies at the Kushtia Islamic University and joined the same university as a teacher. He then joined Jagannath University as a teacher.[6][7]
During the Awami League government, the Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University was Sadeka Halim of Dhaka University. After the change of power in the July coup, on 18 September 2024, the interim government appointed Md. Rezaul Karim of the Department of Social Work as the Vice-Chancellor. Uddin succeeded him.[8]
