Maschinen-Mensch
Maschinen-Mensch (German "Machine human") is a currently defunct video games studio based in Berlin, Germany. It was founded in 2014 by the two developers Riad Djemili and Johannes Kristmann.[1] The company's most notable output was the 2016 release Curious Expedition, which was sold more than 200,000 times.[2] It was followed by a sequel in 2021. In 2025, Maschinen-Mensch released Mother Machine. However, revenues were insufficient to cover ongoing operations. Nevertheless, Maschinen-Mensch UG remains in operation – including the operation and support of the games. One of the founders, Riad Djemili, now focuses on his other venture Codecks[3] - a trading card game-inspired interface that enables and simplifies project management throughout the game production process.[4]
