González Vilches was born in Melipilla, Chile, on 22 July 1882, the son of Eufracio González and Julia Vilches.[1]

He worked as a newspaper editor and, from 1927, served as editor of the clandestine communist newspaper Bandera Roja during periods of political repression.[1]

He was actively involved in the organization of peasants and agricultural wage workers in central Chile and held leadership positions within the Federación Obrera de Chile.[1]
