Manon Dancourt

Manon Dancourt (1684 – 13 February 1740) was the stage name of a French actor born Marie-Anne-Armande Carton Dancourt.

She was born in Paris as eldest child of actors Florent Carton Dancourt and Marie-Thérèse Le Noir de La Thorillière. She first appeared onstage aged eleven in 1695 and played further child roles. She was received into the Comédie-Française on 13 January 1699 aged fifteen.^[1][2]

Marie Anne Armande Carton-Dancourt (Madame Guillaume de Fontaine) ratified her will on 6 October 1739 and its codicil on 29 December 1739. She mentioned her eldest child (Madame de Barbançois), who had died in childbirth, and the absence of her other daughter Madame Vallet de la Touche, who had moved in with her lover Evelyn Pierrepont in England.

Louise Dupin received 50,000 livres. It asked her son-in-law, Claude Dupin, to be her executor as "this last mark of friendship" and in return bequeathed him a ring set with a diamond valued at 4,500 livres.

She left her niece Thérèse Boutinon des Hayes "a ring of a diamond set in a lozenge shape, the band set with carats" and to her nephew by marriage Alexandre Jean Joseph Le Riche de La Popelinière "two paintings by Monsieur de Troy" (by either François de Troy or his son Jean-François de Troy).
