Malaki Duwe Nubha (Storybook Daughter) (Sinhala: මලකි දුවේ නුඹ) is a 2026 Sri Lankan Sinhala drama film co-directed by Kalpana Ariyawansa and Vindana Ariyawansa.[1] The film is co-produced by Dr. Lakshman Makandura and Kularatne Ariyawansa for Ransara Pictures.[3] The film stars Kushenya Fonseka in lead role with Malini Fonseka, Samanalee Fonseka, Shyam Fernando, Dhananjaya Siriwardena and Pradeepa Dharmadasa made supportive roles.[4][5][6]
This is the final cinema appearance for Queen of the Sinhala cinema: late Malani Fonseka.[7][4][8] This is also the first time where she has acted in a film with two of her generations together: Samanalee and Kushenya.[1] Meanwhile, veteran singer Pradeepa Dharmadasa appeared in the screen after 30 years.[3] This is the second time where Samanalee and Shyam acted as the couple after their successful blockbuster Premaya Nam directed by the same directors.[1]
The film generally received positive reviews from critics.[9][10][11][12]

Production
This is the third film directed by Kalpana Ariyawansa and Vindana Ariyawansa, after critically acclaimed film Premaya Nam in 2017 and then Rookada Panchi in 2020.[4][14] Doctor Lakshman Makandura and Kularatne Ariyawansa are the producer of the film.[16] Apart from direction, Vindana Ariyawansa made the script, where Editing and design by Kalpana Ariyawansa. Cinematography handled by Vishwajith Karunaratne.[3][5]
Makeup done by Priyantha Wanninayake, art direction by Sampath Wanniarachchi and sound design and mixing done by Thapas Nayak.[3] Veteran musician Dr. Rohana Weerasinghe is the music director,[5] where Kularatne Ariyawansa, father of the two directors made the song lyrics.[3][1]
Release
The special screening and media screening were held at the Savoy Premier Cinema in Wellawatte in December 2025.[16] In the same month, the theme song of the film was also released.[17] The film was released island wide on 2 January 2026 in EAP theatres.[7][1][2]
The launch of the film script will take place on 25 February 2026, at 3.00 pm, at the National Library and Documentation Services Board Auditorium, Colombo 07.[18]
Accolades
In 2025, the film was nominated for the Best Asian Film category at the 31st Kolkata International Film Festival.[7][19]
