Mahdi Rasouli (Persian: مهدی رسولي; born 3 August 1988) is an Iranian Maddah religious singer.[1] He is one of Iran's most prominent religious orators.[2] Mahdi Rasouli performs Maddahi and Noha in four main languages: Persian, Arabic, Turkish, and Azerbaijani. He normally holds his Hei'ats (public places for religious rituals/mourning) in Hei'at Sarallah Zanjan, in Zanjan.[3] He also has held maddahis/dhikrs in the Office of the Supreme Leader of Iran, as well as other countries such as Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Georgia, Turkey, and Russia.[4] He has around 236,000 active listeners on Spotify.[5]
Background and family
Personal life
Mahdi Rasouli is a civil engineering graduate from Zanjan University and a bachelor's degree in cultural affairs management and a master's degree in Quran and Hadith sciences from Dar al-Hadith University.[6] Mahdi Rasouli grew up in a religious family and his father was in charge of the headquarters of the 36th Ansar Brigade during the Iran–Iraq War and was killed in November 1990 in Kurdistan when Mahdi Rasouli was only two years old. He is married and has two children, a daughter and a son.[7]
