Madly Ever After
Madly Ever After is a five-issue comic book story arc written and drawn by Skottie Young as the first volume of I Hate Fairyland.[1] Published by Image Comics, the story revolves around Gert, stranded unageing in Fairyland for the past twenty-seven years, as she attempts to escape the realm once and for all, before the realm's frustrated queen can have her killed.[2][3]
Summary
The comic follows Gert, a bitter, hard-drinking, sarcastic, murderous young woman who has spent the last twenty-seven years on a "one-day quest" through Fairyland on being transported there for the key that will allow her to go home, trapped as her unageing six-year-old self with pretty green curls and a bow, and accompanied by her equally sarcastic, top-hat-wearing housefly quest companion Larry. After the impatient Queen Cloudia decides to summon a second child, Happy, to take Gert's place, Gert must complete her quest before Happy lest she be trapped in Fairyland forever.[4][5][6][7]
Reception
Madly Ever After received good reviews.[8][9][10][11][12][13][14]
