The MG 4X (alternatively spelled MG4X) is an upcoming battery electric subcompact crossover SUV to be produced by SAIC Motor and sold under the MG brand.

Overview

The 4X was first presented alongside the MG 07 on 10 March 2026.[1] The 4X serves as an expansion to the MG4 nameplate and will be sold alongside the second-generation MG4. It is also expected that the dimensions of the 4X will be similar to that of the MG4 EV. MG will position the 4X below the MGS5 EV, which is sold as the MG ES5 in China.[2] It is based on the Modular Scalable Platform and also shares the same wheelbase with the 4 EV.[3]

Design

The 4X continues the design theme of the MG4 EV, but adds specific elements not used on the 4. To reinforce the brand's sportiness, the front bumper uses a dynamic shape. There is also a light-up logo mounted just above the full-width light bar. A sharp wasteline is utilized all throughout the side profile. The rear taillights are expected to be similar to that of the 4 EV.[4]

Features

The general features of the 4X are expected to mirror that of the 4 EV. There will be digital interfaces co-developed by Oppo included with the 4X, something that was also utilized in the 4 EV.[5] It comes standard with a roof rack and a panoramic sunroof.[1]

Powertrain

No power output figures have been released and its layout is yet to be revealed. However it has a claimed range of 317 miles (510 km) and will use a solid-state battery, and while not confirmed, is the same 53.95 kWh battery used in the MG4 EV.[6]
