M. Mohan Alva (born 31 May 1952) is an Indian educationist, philanthropist and cultural organizer from Moodbidri, Karnataka. He is the founder of the Alva's Education Foundation (AEF), a group of educational, health and cultural institutions in coastal Karnataka.[3][4][5]

Early life and education

Mohan Alva was born in a rural family in Mijar near Moodbidri, Karnataka. He completed primary schooling locally and later obtained a degree in Ayurveda from S D M College of Ayurveḑa, Udupi.[6]

Career

After graduation in Ayurveda, Alva began practicing Ayurveda and later established a pharmacy and small hospital. In 1995, he founded the Alva's Education Foundation with the aim of providing value-based education. And foundation manages schools, pre-university colleges, degree colleges, professional institutions and cultural centres.

Mohan Alva has received several honours for contributions to education, cultural promotion and community service, including:

  • Dr Kota Shivarama Karantha Huttuura Prashasthi[11]
  • Nominated as C.C.I.M. Member for 5 years (2007–2011) by Central Council for Indian Medicine, New Delhi[12]
