Luis Gutiérrez Alliende was a Chilean politician who served as Minister of Justice and as a member of the Chamber of Deputies.[1]

Early life

He was born in Santiago, the son of José Ramón Gutiérrez Martínez and Carolina Alliende Martínez.[1]

He married Elvira Rodríguez.[1]

In 1928, he traveled to Europe.[1]

Parliamentary career

He was elected deputy for Llanquihue and Carelmapu for the 1924–1927 period and served as substitute member of the Permanent Commission of Foreign Affairs.[1] Congress was dissolved that same year, in 1924, by decree of the Government Junta.[1]

He was later elected deputy for the 23rd Departamental Grouping of “Osorno, Llanquihue and Carelmapu” for the 1926–1930 legislative period.[1] During this term, he served on the Permanent Commission of Agriculture and Colonization.[1]

Minister of Justice

Following the fall of the first government of Carlos Ibáñez del Campo, he was appointed Minister of Justice, serving from 26 July to 2 September 1931, and again from 15 November 1931 to 8 April 1932.[1]

Other activities

He served as director of the Club Hípico.[1]
