Loricaria tucumanensis[3] is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish belonging to the family Loricariidae, the mailed catfishes, and the subfamily Loricariinae, the armoured suckermouth catfishes.[2] This catfish endemic to Argentina where it occurs in the northwestern provinces of Entre Ríos, Jujuy, Salta and Tucumán in the basins of the Salta and Paraná rivers,[1] This species reaches a standard length of 12.1 cm (4.8 in) and is believed to be a facultative air-breather.[4]
