Chancellors of Indiana University Bloomington

"Chancellor" is not to be confused with "University Chancellor", a title usually given to retired system presidents employed by the Indiana University system to assist in fundraising activities for the university system.

The title and office of campus chancellor was created three separate times, and the position was reabsorbed by the president of the university (system) twice.[22]

Snyder, vice-president and dean for undergraduate development at University, yesterday was named to the new post of acting chancellor of the I.U. Bloomington campus. At the same time, a search and screening committee was approved by the Faculty Council to make recommendations to President Joseph L. Sutton for candidates for permanent chancellor. Sutton said that Snyder will serve as the chief academic officer of the Bloomington campus. Under long-range reorganization of the university, all units in Indianapolis are now under direction of a chancellor, and the deans of all the regional campuses (Fort Wayne, Gary, South Bend, Kokomo).

Snyder, who had been acting chancellor, resigned in June to become president of Westmont College in California.
