Lincoln Cosby (born November 29, 2008) is an American high school basketball player who attends Montverde Academy. He played his freshman and sophomore seasons in the Overtime Elite circuit. He is a four-star recruit signed to play college basketball for the Michigan Wolverines. He was a top-10 ranked member of the class of 2027 who reclassified as a top-50 ranked member of the class of 2026.
Early life and high school
Cosby's earliest basketball experiences came when his family lived in Nashville.[1] His family moved to the Lakota West High School district (in suburban Cincinnati, Ohio) when he was in 7th grade.[2] In 2023, Cosby became the first freshman and youngest player to ever sign with Overtime Elite.[1] He began his freshman year regarded by many as the top player in the class of 2027.[1] Cosby was ESPN's number two prospect in the 2027 class as of May 2024.[3] By July 2024, his offers included Arizona State, Auburn, Louisville, Ole Miss, Cincinnati, UNLV, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida State, Houston, Georgia and ESPN rated him as the number 3 prospect in the national class of 2027.[2] That summer, he had multiple head to head matchups against Baba Oladotun as the two vied for the top spot in the 2027 class rankings.[2][4] He continued as a sophomore on the Overtime Elite circuit where he stood out as one of the youngest players.[5] He averaged 15.6 points, 11.6 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 1.7 blocks as a sophomore.[6] By the end of his 2024–25 sophomore season, he had accumulated offers from programs including Arizona State, Cincinnati, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Tennesee, USC, and Ole Miss as well as interest from Auburn, Marquette, Memphis, Louisville, and Oregon before transferring to Montverde for his junior year and was ranked as the #5 prospect in the national class of 2027 in July 2025.[7]
Recruitment
Cosby, with offers that included, Cincinnati, Ohio State, Michigan, Auburn, Texas A&M, Oregon, Florida State, Houston, Memphis, Ole Miss, Georgia, Louisville, Missouri, Wake Forest, UNLV, Arizona State, Alabama, USC, and LSU, announced on January 31, 2026, that he would reclassify from 2027 to 2026.[8] At the time of his February 10, 2026 committment announcement for the University of Michigan, Cosby, who had been a top-10 member of the national class of 2027, reiterated that he would reclassify into the class of 2026. He had recently undergone surgery on his ACL and was expected to still be rehabbing when he gets to Michigan.[9] At the time, his October 2025 visit to Michigan was his only known official visit, according to Sports Illustrated.[9] However, in October 2025, Yahoo! Sports had announced a scheduled October visit to Kentucky.[10] Nonetheless, Rivals.com stated on January 31, 2026, that his only college visit up to that time had been an unofficial visit to Michigan.[8] At the time he was ranked #10 by ESPN,[11] #9 by Rivals.com in the class of 2027.[8] Once reclassified in the class of 2026, he was ranked as the #38 prospect by 247Sports.com, joining a Michigan 2026 class that includes Quinn Costello (# 40), guard Joseph Hartman (# 87), guard Malachi Brown (# 194) and center Marcus Moller (unranked).[12]
