Lago di Prà della Stua is a barrier lake in Trentino, of northern Italy within the Monte Baldo massif. The lake is situated at an elevation of 1,050 meters (3,445 ft) above sea level and collects the waters of the Torrente Aviana. It is positioned near the Strada Provinciale dei Dossioli and represents, together with Lago di Loppio, one of the only significant natural water bodies in the Monte Baldo area. The lake is surrounded by alpine meadows and forests, making it a popular destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts.

Geography

Lago di Prà della Stua is located in the upper part of the Aviana valley, surrounded by dense coniferous forests and alpine meadows. It is overlooked by the peak of Corno della Paura and offers scenic views of the Monte Baldo range. The lake can be accessed via country road SP3 from the nearby towns in the Trentino region.

Hydrology

The lake was formed as a barrier lake and functions as a reservoir retaining the flow of the Torrente Aviana. Its elevation and position make it an important source of water for the surrounding ecosystem. Seasonal changes cause variations in the lake’s water level, particularly during spring snowmelt and autumn rains.

Tourism

Lago di Prà della Stua is a popular destination for hikers, cyclists, and nature enthusiasts. Several trails and panoramic viewpoints are accessible around the lake. Due to its natural setting and relative tranquility, it is often visited for picnics and scenic stops rather than large-scale tourism.
