La Siesta, Memory of Spain (c. 1868) is an oil-on-canvas painting by the French artist Gustave Doré (1832–1883). The work is housed in the National Museum of Western Art, Tokyo. It reflects Doré’s interest in Spanish culture following his travels in Spain during the 1860s.[1][2][3]
Provenance
Sold at Christie’s, London, on 29 November 1991 (lot 50); subsequently part of the Ishizuka Collection, Tokyo; acquired by the NMWA in 2006.[4][5]
