"L'eternità (il mio quartiere)" (transl. Eternity (My Neighborhood)) is a song by Italian singer-songwriter Fabrizio Moro with featured vocals by singer-songwriter Ultimo. It was released on 20 April 2018 by Sony Music.[1][2]
Description
The song features Italian singer-songwriter Ultimo and is a remake of "L'eternità", which appeared on Moro's 2013 album L'inizio.[3] The song's title and lyrics reference the Roman neighborhood of San Basilio, where both Moro (winner of the Champions section of the Sanremo Music Festival 2018 along with Ermal Meta) and Ultimo (winner of the Newcomers section of the same festival) are from.[4]
Regarding this song and this collaboration, Moro stated:[5]
Ultimately, "eternity for me is you": this is the key expression of this song. Eternity is a long and broad word, and there aren't many like it, perhaps none. Everyone can give it their own interpretation depending on what they're experiencing. It's a huge declaration of love, with all the awareness that comes with it. In Ultimo, I see myself as a twenty-year-old, with the same roots, the same anger, the same desire to emerge. Working together, I felt like I could find a balance with my past again.
Ultimo, however, said:[5]
For me, being able to say I participated in one of Fabrizio's songs, singing it with him, is already a victory. This song represents the desire to emerge and last forever. What I wanted to do with the lyrics was describe eternity in "photographs". All those little things that ultimately shape life.
Music video
The music video, directed by Trilathera, was released on 23 April 2018 through the Fabrizio Moro's YouTube channel and was filmed on a cliff in the municipality of San Felice Circeo,[6][7] while the video alternates with old footage related to the singer's private life that the latter seems to look back on with nostalgia.[8] Among these, some moments with his children and his closest friends stand out, as well as some clips from old concerts.[9]
