Kazi Inam Ahmed is a Bangladeshi businessman and sports administrator. He is a director of the Gemcon Group, a diversified conglomerate based in Bangladesh, and has been involved in business, retail, and sports administration. Early life and education
Kazi Inam Ahmed was born into the Kazi family, the son of Kazi Shahid Ahmed, the founder of the Gemcon Group. He received his early education in Bangladesh and studied at Scholastica, where he also played for the Nirman football team.
Ahmed completed his undergraduate studies in the humanities at Wesleyan University in the United States.
Business career
Kazi Inam Ahmed is a director of the Gemcon Group, a diversified Bangladeshi conglomerate with interests in food and beverage, retail, agriculture, media, and manufacturing. He has held board-level and executive roles across multiple companies affiliated with the group.
His business involvement includes companies operating in sectors such as tea estates, seafood processing, retail chains, media, and consumer goods. Ahmed has also been associated with Gemcon-affiliated media outlets, including Bangla Tribune and Dhaka Tribune, and has held executive responsibilities within the Meena Bazar retail chain.
In addition to his corporate roles, Ahmed serves as a trustee board member of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh and has been involved in institutional governance and development initiatives.
Sports administration
Kazi Inam Ahmed has been involved in sports administration in Bangladesh, particularly in cricket governance. In December 2017, he was appointed head of the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis.[1]
He has served in various capacities within the Bangladesh Cricket Board, including as marketing committee chief, and was later appointed chairman of the Bangladesh Tigers committee in January 2025.[2]
Ahmed has also been associated with institutional cricket development and founded the ULAB Cricket Team.
Court actions and media reporting
In 2024 and 2025, Bangladeshi media reported that the Anti-Corruption Commission (Bangladesh) initiated investigations involving Kazi Inam Ahmed and other members of the Gemcon Group concerning allegations of financial irregularities.[3]
In September 2025, the commission announced that cases had been filed against Ahmed and his brother Kazi Anis Ahmed in connection with the investigations.[4]
In February 2025, Bangladeshi courts issued orders including a travel restriction and the freezing of shares linked to several Gemcon Group entities as part of ongoing legal proceedings involving multiple individuals.[5][6]
