Kaniwara Hanuman temple is a historic and miraculous shrine located in Jalore, Rajasthan. This 800-year-old temple is known for its unique traditions, including a divine statue that, according to the devotees, mysteriously grows and a Dalit family that has served as its priests for generations.[1][2][3][4][5]
History
According to local lore, the idol of Lord Hanuman was not installed but rather emerged from the earth during an excavation, hence it is also called "Pataleshwar Hanumanji". The village was once known as Kani-Patal Nagar.[6]
