Gangneung–Wonju National University (GWNU, Korean강릉원주대학교) is a national research university with two campuses, in Gangneung and Wonju, South Korea. Founded in 1946, GWNU is situated on the east coast of the country.

Following the merger between Gangneung National University and Wonju National College on March 1, 2007, the name of the university was changed to Gangneung–Wonju National University.[1]

Situated near the Sea of Japan coastal region, GWNU has taken advantage of its location, focusing its education on new materials, marine resources, tourism, and IT. In addition, the university, as a global exchange educational hub linking the East Asian region, has formed academic agreements with 27 countries and 73 foreign universities, pursuing academic exchanges with students, faculties, and staff.[2] In 2018, GWNU had about 150 international students from China, Russia, Japan, Southeast Asia, and the United States.ref name="academyinfo" />
