José Germán Domínguez Echenique (14 April 1900 – 9 August 1961) was a Chilean lawyer, farmer and conservative politician.[1] He was the son of Francisco Domínguez Cerda and Irene Echenique Gandarillas, and married Luisa Ríos Mackenna in 1925.[1]

Professional Activities

He studied at the Colegio San Ignacio, where he was a classmate of Alberto Hurtado Cruchaga and Manuel Larraín Errázuriz.[1] He later studied law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, dedicating himself afterwards to agricultural work in the province of Colchagua.[1]

He served as a broker of the Santiago Stock Exchange, was a partner in the firm “Pinto, Domínguez y Palma”, and worked at the Caja de Crédito Hipotecario.[1]

Political Activities

A member of the Conservative Party, he served as regidor of the Municipality of Santiago from 1938 to 1941.[1]

He was elected Deputy for the Santiago Metropolitan 1st District for the 1941–1945 period, serving on the Permanent Committee on Internal Government.[1] He was re-elected for the 1945–1949 term, joining the Committee on Agriculture and Colonization.[1]

He served as Mayor of Santiago between 1951 and 1952.[1] He was also president of the publishing company El Chileno and director of the Club Fernández Concha.[1]
