Geography
LocationOlomouc Region, Czech Republic

Jelení vrch is a hill in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. With an elevation of 345 m (1,132 ft), it is the highest point of the Medlovská pahorkatina (Medlov Hills) geomorphological district and is located about 1.5 km (0.93 mi) south of the municipality of Stavenice, in forested terrain near Moravičany.[1]

In some regional (non-official) mountain lists the hill is presented as the highest summit of the Mohelnice Depression (Czech: Mohelnická brázda; German: Müglitzer Furche; Polish: Rów Mohelnicki). In the official Czech geomorphological division, however, the Mohelnická brázda unit's highest point is given as Homůlka (332.9 m), while Jelení vrch is classified outside that unit, in the adjacent Hanušovice Highlands system via the Medlov Hills district.[2]

Geography

Jelení vrch lies within the landscape context of the Litovelské Pomoraví Protected Landscape Area (Czech: CHKO Litovelské Pomoraví), where the relief rises from the Morava River floodplain towards low hills reaching approximately 345 m at Jelení vrch.[3]

The hill is also associated with the Doubrava nature reserve area (Czech: Přírodní rezervace Doubrava).[4][5]

Geology

According to the official geographic lexicon of Czech landforms, Jelení vrch is a rounded, conical hill built mainly of Lower Carboniferous rocks (slates, greywackes and greywacke sandstones) attributed to the Protivanov Formation (Czech: protivanovské souvrství).[1]
