Jean-François Stinco (born August 22, 1978[1]) is a Canadian musician best known as the lead guitarist for the rock band Simple Plan. As the lead guitarist, he has played on every Simple Plan studio album, including No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls (2002) and Still Not Getting Any... (2004).

Early life and career

Stinco is of Italian descent[2] and has two brothers. Unlike many of his bandmates, Stinco is a formally trained musician. He studied classical guitar for 10 years at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal and participated in masterclasses with renowned guitarists like Manuel Barrueco. Stinco attended Collège Beaubois High School in Pierrefonds along with future bandmates Chuck Comeau, Pierre Bouvier, and Sébastien Lefebvre.

In 1999, Stinco, drummer Chuck Comeau and rhythm guitarist Sébastien Lefebvre founded the band Simple Plan. In 2002, Simple Plan released their debut studio album, No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls, which featured the singles "I'm Just a Kid", "I'd Do Anything", "Addicted", and "Perfect". In 2004, Simple Plan released its second album, Still Not Getting Any... which was produced by Bob Rock and led to the subsequent singles, "Welcome to My Life", "Shut Up", "Untitled (How Could This Happen to Me?)", "Crazy", and (in some markets) "Perfect World".

Personal life

Stinco is married to yoga instructor and osteopathy doctor Mimi Bonnier; they have been together since 1992 and have three children.[1] Outside of music, Stinco is a successful entrepreneur in the Montreal culinary scene, owning several restaurants including La Taverne Gaspard and Mangiafoco.[1][3]
