Jane Arthur (poet)
Jane Arthur (born 1981) is a New Zealand poet, children’s writer, bookseller and editor. Arthur co-founded The Sapling, a children's literature website, with Sarah Forster.[1] She lives in Wellington.[2]
Arthur has written two poetry collections, being Calamities! and Craven.[3][4] In 2024, her first children’s book Brown Bird was published by Penguin Random House New Zealand.[2][5] Louise Ward said of Brown Bird, "This is a brave book about brave people in the modern world, reminiscent of Judy Blume and Jacqueline Wilson."[6] Brown Bird was shortlisted for the New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults, Wright Family Foundation Esther Glen Junior Fiction Award in 2025.[7]
