Jagodna is a mountain in the Bystrzyckie Mountains (Góry Bystrzyckie), a range of the Sudetes in south-western Poland. With an elevation of 977 metres (3,205 ft), it is the highest peak of the Bystrzyckie Mountains.[1][2]
Geography
Jagodna lies in the central part of the Bystrzyckie Mountains within Kłodzko County in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The range forms part of the Central Sudetes and extends roughly parallel to the Orlické Mountains along the Polish–Czech border.[2]
The summit area of Jagodna forms a relatively flat, forested plateau typical of the Bystrzyckie Mountains, which are characterized by extensive coniferous forests and gently rounded ridges. The mountain has two closely spaced summit points, with the southern point forming the highest elevation at 977 m above sea level.[1]
Jagodna rises near the Spalona Pass (Przełęcz Spalona), an important mountain pass within the range. The surrounding terrain is dissected by valleys that drain toward the Kłodzko Basin and the valleys of tributaries of the Nysa Kłodzka. The Bystrzyckie Mountains themselves extend for roughly 50 km and are separated from neighbouring ranges by river valleys and mountain passes.[3]
Tourism
Jagodna is a well-known hiking destination in the Sudetes and is included in the list of the highest peaks of Poland's principal mountain ranges, often referred to as the “Crown of Polish Mountains”.[4]
Several marked hiking trails lead to the summit area, most commonly from the Spalona Pass. Nearby stands the mountain hostel Schronisko PTTK “Jagodna”, located at an altitude of about 811 m, which serves as a starting point for hiking and cycling routes in the surrounding mountains.[5]
