Jack Young (born 11 October 2001) is a British racing driver from Northern Ireland who last competed in the ST-TCR class of the Super Taikyu Series for M&K Racing.
Career
Young made his car racing debut in 2017, racing in the Renault UK Clio Cup Junior and winning the series title with one win and four other podiums to his name.[1] The following year, Young raced in the last four rounds of the Renault UK Clio Cup,[2] as well as winning the Renault Clio Cup International Finale towards the end of the year.[3] Racing full-time in the Renault UK Clio Cup in 2019,[4] Young won seven times and scored five further podiums as he secured the title at season's end.[5] During 2019, Young also made a one-off appearance in TCR Europe for Vuković Motorsport.[6] Continuing with Vuković Motorsport for the following year, Young raced with them in the first two rounds of the World Touring Car Cup before leaving the team and series ahead of the Slovakia Ring round.[7]
Moving to TCR Europe full-time in 2021, Young joined Brutal Fish Racing Team,[8] as well as joining the JAS Driver Development Programme.[9] In his rookie year in the series, Young scored a best result of second at Zandvoort,[10] as he also took third-place finishes at Nürburgring and Monza, which helped him end the year 10th in points.[11][12] During 2021, Young also made a one-off appearance in TCR Italy at Misano for MM Motorsport.[13] Young continued in the series for 2022, switching to Profi-Car Team Halder,[14] as he was retained as a JAS Driver Development driver.[15] Opening up the year with his maiden series win at Algarve,[16] Young then had to wait six rounds for his second win of the season, coming in race one at Barcelona, en route to a sixth-place points finish.[17] During 2022, Young also raced for MM Motorsport in a one-off appearance in TCR Italy at Monza,[18] and also finished third in the FIA Motorsport Games Touring Car Cup while representing Ireland.[19]
The following year, Young joined Dongfeng Honda MacPro Racing Team to compete in TCR China.[20] In his only season in the series, Young scored wins in both Zhuzhou and the second Shanghai round, as well as taking two more podiums to secure runner-up honors in the standings.[21][22][23] After Dongfeng Honda pulled out of the series during the off-season,[24] Young was left on the sidelines for 2024,[25] before returning to TCR competition in 2025 by joining M&K Racing to race in Super Taikyu.[26] Competing in all but one race, Young won at Motegi,[27] Autopolis and Fuji, as well as scoring two more podiums to help his team finish runner-up in the ST-TCR standings.[28][29]
