Ivan de Souza Monteiro (born 1960, in Manaus)[1] is a Brazilian electronic engineer, former president of the oil state company Petrobras.[2] Previously, Monteiro was CFO of the company. Before heading Petrobras, Monteiro worked in Banco do Brasil.[2]
Career
In 2015, Monteiro joined Petrobras at the invitation of Aldemir Bendine, the former president of Banco do Brasil (BB), who had been appointed president of Petrobras by President Dilma Rousseff that year. Monteiro had previously served as BB’s vice president for Financial Management and Investor Relations from 2009 to 2015.[3]
In June 2018, following the departure of Pedro Parente, Monteiro was selected by Petrobras’s board of directors as acting president. He was later nominated as president by Michel Temer.[4]
