Himeno Sakatsume (坂詰 姫野, Sakatsume Himeno; born 3 August 2001) is a Japanese tennis player. She reached a career-high WTA singles ranking of world No. 132, achieved on 2 February 2026, and a career-high doubles ranking of 344, achieved on 27 April 2025.[2]

Career

2022: WTA debut

Sakatsume made her WTA Tour main-draw debut at the 2022 Championnats de Granby, after entering the singles tournament as a lucky loser, but was defeated by Jasmine Paolini in the first round.[3]

2023: BJK and WTA 500 debuts

She made her debut for the Japan Billie Jean King Cup team on 13 April 2023 in a tie against Uzbekistan. She beat Sabrina Olimjanova and registered her first BJK Cup win.

Having made it through qualifying, Sakatsume reached the second round at the Japan Women's Open with a win over Alexandra Eala,[4] before losing to third seed Wang Xinyu.[5]

She made her WTA 500 debut at the 2023 Pan Pacific Open as a lucky loser, but lost to Linda Nosková.[6]

2025: First WTA quarterfinal

As a qualifier, Sakatsume reached her maiden WTA quarterfinal at the 2025 Hong Kong Open, defeating fourth seed Sofia Kenin for her first win against a top-100 ranked player[7] and then overcoming wildcard entrant Eudice Chong,[8] before losing to fifth seed Maya Joint in three sets.[9]

2026: Grand Slam debut

Sakatsume made her Grand Slam debut at the 2026 Australian Open after qualifying for the main draw. [10]
