Goeppertia ornata (syn. Calathea ornata), is a species of perennial plant in the family known as the prayer plants. It is native to Colombia and Venezuela.[1]

While the horticultural industry sells "pinstripe calathea" houseplants as Goeppertia ornata or Calathea ornata,[4] Marantaceae expert Helen Kennedy states that these are actually Goeppertia majestica.[5][6] Goeppertia ornata is much more difficult to grow and disappeared from cultivation some time prior to the mid 1990s.
