Events
- Atlaspheres — The MTN version of Atlaspheres follows a different format to the original. Five giant bowling pins are positioned across the arena. The contender has 60 seconds to knock as many of the pins down as possible whilst the Gladiator tries to prevent them from scoring. The contender can only move in a circular motion, and once a pin is missed, they cannot go back for it. Each silver pin is worth 2 points and the big red pin is worth 4.
- Duel — This event follows the same rules as the original incarnation.
- Gauntlet — This event follows the same rules as the original incarnation, except that now (as of MTN Series 3), all five gladiators use small battle sticks instead of ram rods and power pads.
- Hang Tough — This event follows the same rules as the original incarnation.
- Hit and Run — Known as the Demolition Run, this event follows the same rules as the original incarnation.
- Powerball — Same rules as the first springbock challenge. One gladiator faces one contender with scoring as the same. Both play at the same time.
- Rat Race — Similar to Pendulum, but with 2 Gladiators instead of 1 as in all other incarnations. And the globe spins instead of swings.
- Suspension Bridge — This event follows the same rules as the original incarnation.
- The Wall — Known as the MTN Mountain, this event follows the same rules as the original incarnation.
- Whiplash — This event is now played on a 3m platform. The scoring is the same, except that now pulling the gladiator off the platform with the wishbone and being the only one holding onto it with control gives you five bonus points for a total of 15. Also, touching the pedestal or sitting on it is legal in South Africa since it's not played on a carpet. The contender is also not allowed to step over the gladiator.
- Eliminator — The final grueling event.
Competition results
Bold indicates the winner of each competition. Like the Australian series, only four events are played in each episode prior to the Eliminator. Each contender gets two shows. Winning shows determined who made the final.
