Góra Wszystkich Świętych (German: Allerheiligenberg) is a mountain in the Włodzickie Hills, a subrange of the Nowa Ruda Depression, within the Sudetes in south-western Poland.[2][1] At 648 metres (2,126 ft), it is the highest mountain within the city limits of Nowa Ruda.[1]

Geography

The mountain lies in Kłodzko County, in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, on the south-eastern side of Nowa Ruda.[2] Official Polish geographical records also list Kościelec as an alternative name for the summit.[2]

According to the geological-environmental map sheet for Nowa Ruda prepared by the Polish Geological Institute, Góra Wszystkich Świętych reaches 647.5 metres (2,124 ft) and is one of the principal isolated hills of the Włodzickie Hills.[3]

Landmarks and tourism

Góra Wszystkich Świętych is a local tourist destination because of the stone observation tower on its summit.[1][4] The present tower, built of red sandstone, dates from 1913 and is about 15 m high.[4][5] An earlier, smaller viewing structure had been erected on the mountain in 1889 by the local branch of the Glatzer Gebirgsverein.[5]

About 400 m below the summit stands the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sorrows (Sanktuarium Matki Bożej Bolesnej), a baroque church founded as a votive offering after the plague of 1680 in the Kłodzko region.[1][6] The church was enlarged in 1750 and rebuilt between 1994 and 2000.[6]
