Góra Krzyżowa is a mountain in south-western Poland. At a height of 354 metres (1,161 ft), it is commonly regarded as the highest peak of the Strzegom Hills (Wzgórza Strzegomskie).[1][3]

Geography

Góra Krzyżowa rises in the south-western part of the Strzegom Hills, within the administrative limits of Strzegom, north-west of the town centre and east of Góra Świętego Jerzego.[1][3] The summit offers extensive views over the Silesian Lowlands and several Sudetic ranges, including the Owl Mountains, Wałbrzyskie Mountains, Stone Mountains and Kaczawskie Mountains, with the Giant Mountains visible in the distance.[1]

The hill is built chiefly of late Palaeozoic granodiorite, locally pierced near the summit by Miocene basalts and dykes representing the remains of a volcanic chimney.[1][4] Basalts and associated volcanic tuffs occur on and around Krzyżowa Góra north-west of Strzegom.[4]

The mountain and its surroundings are protected within the Obszar Chronionego Krajobrazu Góra Krzyżowa, a protected landscape area covering 150 hectares (370 acres).[5][3]
