Frederick Augustus Nicholson (1849–1936) was a British civil servant in the Indian Civil Service who served in the Madras Presidency.[1][2][3] He is known to have initiated the introduction of cooperative credit societies in India through his reports and recommendations in the 1890s.[4] His proposals were later considered in the drafting of the Cooperative Credit Societies Act of 1904.[5][6]
