Eric Johnson (theologian)

Eric L. Johnson is an American theologian and professor of Christian psychology. He is the founder and scholar-in-residence at the Christian Psychology Institute and serves as a Senior Research Professor at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.[1] He was previously a professor at Houston Christian University.[2]

Education and career

Johnson earned his PhD from Michigan State University. He served for 17 years as the Lawrence and Charlotte Hoover Professor of Pastoral Care at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS).[3] He is the founding director of the Society for Christian Psychology and has contributed extensively to research on the integration of theology and psychology.[4]

His research focuses on the "soul care" tradition and the integration of Christian faith with psychological science.[5]
