Entre Mar y Palmeras Tour is the title of the world tour by Dominican singer Juan Luis Guerra and his band 4:40. The tour was launched in support of his live album Entre Mar y Palmeras, his EP Privé, and to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his album Bachata Rosa. [1][2]It began on February 12, 2022, in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The tour was later expanded with additional dates and festival headlining appearances through 2024–2026, following the release of Radio Güira (2023).

The tour was met with positive critical and audience reception. It marked Juan Luis Guerra’s first concerts in Santiago de los Caballeros in 26 years. The performances at Estadio Cibao set venue records, including the fastest sell-out in its history, and made him the first artist to perform two consecutive sold-out shows at the stadium.

Background

Guerra's previous tour, Literal Tour Grandes Éxitos, was expected to end on December 12, 2020, with a massive concert at the Estadio Olimipico in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. However, it was cancelled due the COVID-19 pandemic.[3][4] On December 25, 2020, Guerra released a special live stream as a Christmas gift for his fans, and he released Prive EP. On June 3, 2021, he broadcast a special concert for HBO Latino and later released his second album Entre Mar y Palmeras. Shortly after, he announced a world tour with the same name.[5][6][7]

Overview

In December 2021, Guerra announced a four-concert residency at the Hard Rock Café & Casino Punta Cana.[8][9][10] The tour was set to kick off February 5, 2022; however, it was postponed due heavy rain and bad weather.[11] The final concert of the residency on April 2, 2022, had an attendance of 5,000 fans and received positive reviews by local media.[12][13] The concert at Miami FX Arena was supposed to be played on April 30, 2022; however, it was postponed to May 13, 2022, due Guerra testing positive to COVID-19. Despite this, it received positive reviews by the media and critics.[14] The concert at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan was reported by the media to be sold out and also received critical acclaim by critics.[15]

Critical Reception

The Entre Mar y Palmeras Tour was widely praised by critics and audiences for its energetic performances, rich musicality, and emotional resonance. Rolling Stone described Juan Luis Guerra’s Madison Square Garden concert as an “explosive show full of merengue and bachata hits,” highlighting the dynamic delivery of his classic repertoire. Billboard characterized the tour as a “Dominican cultural experience,” noting that the packed FTX Arena in Miami rallied behind Guerra’s blend of tropical rhythms and charismatic stage presence, with audiences responding enthusiastically to the diverse set list. [16][17]

International reviews of European dates underscored the emotional connection between Guerra and his audiences. Coverage of a Barcelona 2025 performance emphasized that his nearly two-hour set of merengue and bachata classics elicited widespread singing and dancing, with families and multi-generational fans celebrating his legacy and the collective experience of his music.[18] Also, Fuengirola concerts recaps also praised the production and musicianship of Guerra and 4:40, noting the band’s cohesive performance and the vibrant atmosphere created throughout the shows, from dynamic openings to medleys of beloved hits.[19]

Concerts in the artist’s home country also received enthusiastic coverage. Guerra’s performances in Santo Domingo were noted for drawing large crowds and breaking attendance records in the Dominican capital, with local media emphasizing the celebratory atmosphere and deep connection between the performer and his fans.[20] Reviews of the Santiago de los Caballeros dates at Estadio Cibao described a highly energetic and nostalgic show, with around 19,000 spectators enjoying a wide range of hits and interactive moments that underscored Guerra’s enduring appeal. Critics highlighted moments of communal singing and instrumental highlights, noting that the concert was charged with “nostalgia and joy” as fans of all ages participated.[21][22]

Comercial Recepcion

In Madrid, the concert was reported sold out with over 15,000 tickets sold.[23][24] The concert in Lima, Peru was reported sold out within minutes on been announced.[25] Also, the tickets for the concert in Santiago de Chile were quickly sold out. In Santo Domingo, the tour broke records as the fastest selling concert at the venue, Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez. At the time when the tickets were available online over 15,000 fans were signed up. The 50,000 tickets were sold in just three hours.[26] The concerts in Spain in 2022 had a total attendance of 70,000.[27] Also, more than 150,000 attended to the spanish leg concerts in 2025.[28]

Santiago de los Caballeros Concerts

In December 2025, Juan Luis Guerra announced his return to Santiago de los Caballeros, marking his first concerts in the city since the El Niágara en Bicicleta Tour (2000), which was also held at Estadio Cibao. The first scheduled show at the stadium sold out within 24 hours, becoming the fastest sell-out in the venue’s history and prompting the addition of a second date due to high demand.[29][30]

One week before the concerts, local media reported that the second date was nearly sold out, leading organizers to open additional seating sections to meet demand.[31] Guerra performed at Estadio Cibao on February 20 and 21, 2026, with approximately 19,000 attendees each night. On the eve of the first concert, he was recognized as a “Distinguished Visitor” by the Mayor of Santiago de los Caballeros.[32]

Local media reported increased economic activity in the city during the concert weekend, citing a rise in domestic tourism from Santo Domingo and the eastern region of the country. Restaurants extended operating hours, and hotels in Santiago and nearby cities such as La Vega and Moca reported near-full or full occupancy rates. The concerts coincided with the Procigar Festival and other international and local sporting events taking place in the city.[33][34]

The shows received positive coverage from local media, with particular attention given to the production’s drone display, stage organization, and the inclusion of the song “Santiago en Coche” as a tribute to the city, performed in the presence of original members of 4:40. The concerts were attended by business and political figures from both the local and national levels, including the Vice President of the Dominican Republic.[35][36] The concerts featured special guest appearances by El Blachy, Frank Ceara, El Prodigio, Many Cruz Sandy Gabriel, and Beto Montenegro of Rawayana.[35][37][38]
