Dylan Hoogerwerf (born 9 August 1995) was a renowned Dutch short track speed skater.

Biography

Hoogerwerf started doing short track speed skating in The Hague at age 9.[2] He studied graphic design at the Friesland College in Heerenveen.

In 2018, he qualified for the men's 500 metres and men's 5000 m relay event at the 2018 Winter Olympics.[3]

Retirement

In October 2022, he announced his decision to retire from short track to focus on his tattoo studio, Goons and Queens, in Heerenveen, the Netherlands. He stated, "In addition to skating, I have been busy opening a tattoo studio, and I've been putting a lot of energy into it. I tried to qualify for the World Cup, but unfortunately, I didn't succeed. That also says something about the competitive level in the Netherlands. I can't just compete with them anymore."[3]

Awards

He was named the 2017 Sportsman of the Year by the Municipality of Westland, Netherlands.[3]
