Don Share is an American poet, editor, and translator. He was the editor of Poetry magazine from 2013 to 2020.[1] He grew up in Memphis, Tennessee.[2]
Career
Share was senior editor of Poetry magazine before being appointed editor, beginning July 1, 2013.[3] The Poetry Foundation announced on June 26, 2020, that he would step aside as editor effective at the end of summer 2020.[4][5]
From 2000 to 2007, he was curator of Harvard University's Woodberry Poetry Room.[6] He was poetry editor of Harvard Review, and edited issues 19 and 20.[7]
He has held editorial roles including editor-in-chief of Literary Imagination and poetry editor of Partisan Review until the magazine ceased publication in 2003.[3][8]
Share’s translations of Miguel Hernández, published as I Have Lots of Heart, won the Premio Valle Inclán (1999).[9]
Since leaving Poetry, he has been a visiting poet with the Georgia Institute of Technology's Poetry@Tech program.[10]
