Playing career 2013–present

David Tomášek (born 10 February 1996) is a Czech professional ice hockey player who is a centre for Färjestad BK of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). He has previously played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Edmonton Oilers, and has also spent time in the Czech Extraliga, Liiga, and Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

Playing career

Europe

Tomášek made his Czech Extraliga debut playing with HC Pardubice during the 2015–16 Czech Extraliga season.[1] He joined JYP Jyväskylä prior to the 2018–19 season.

NHL

On 2 April 2025, Tomášek had signed a one-year deal to join the Edmonton Oilers for the 2025–26 season.[2]

Tomášek played his first NHL game with on 8 October 2025, which was a 4–3 shootout loss against the Calgary Flames, in which he recorded his first NHL assist.[3] He recorded his first goal 15 days later on 23 October, in a 6–5 win against the Montreal Canadiens.[4] His tenure with the Oilers saw him record five points in 22 games, after which Tomášek was placed on waivers for the purpose of contract termination on 28 December.[5] One day later, he officially returned to Färjestad BK, signing a contract through the end of the 2025–26 SHL season.[6]

Tomášek represented the Czech Republic at the 2024 IIHF World Championship and won a gold medal.[7]

On 6 January 2026, it was announced that Tomášek was named the roster of the Czech Republic at the 2026 Winter Olympics.[8]
