Dąbrówka [dɔmˈbrufka] is a village in Wołomin County, Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland.[1] It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Dąbrówka.

Geography

Dąbrówka covers an area characterized by fertile plains and gentle hills, typical of the Masovian landscape. The village is located approximately 16 kilometers (10 miles) north of Wołomin and 36 kilometers (22 miles) north-east of Warsaw, making it part of the greater Warsaw metropolitan area. The nearby Bug River and several smaller streams contribute to the region's agricultural viability.

History

Dąbrówka has a rich history that dates back to the early medieval period. The village is first mentioned in historical records from the 15th century, though it is likely that the area was settled much earlier. Over the centuries, Dąbrówka has witnessed various historical events, including the partitions of Poland, both World Wars, and the communist era. Six Polish citizens were murdered by Nazi Germany in the village during World War II.[2] The village has retained much of its historical charm, with several buildings and landmarks that reflect its long heritage.
