Christ Melik Makosso (born 9 May 2004) is a Congolese professional footballer who plays as a defender for EFL League One club Luton Town.
Club career
Early career
Born in Brazzaville, Makosso spent his early career in the Congo with Ajax Moungali and CARA Brazzaville.[1] He then played in France with Sochaux, before moving to Belgian club RWDM in January 2024.[2][3] He was praised in the media as the "future" of RWDM,[4] while Makosso said he would focus on his club career over his international career.[5]
Luton Town
Makosso moved to English club Luton Town in January 2025.[6][7] He made his debut for the club on 23 February 2025, in a 2–0 defeat to Watford.[8] Although the 2024–25 season ended in disappointment as the Hatters suffered a second consecutive relegation, Makosso's impact following his arrival saw him named both Young Player of the Season and Signing of the Season at the club's awards night.[9]
In January 2026 he moved on loan to Oxford United.[10][11]
International career
He made his international debut for Congo in 2022.[1] In March 2024, Makosso said he was focusing on his club career at RWDM.[5]
