The Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank[1] (CGB) is an Indian Regional Rural Bank (RRB) in Chhattisgarh established on 2 September 2013.[2] The bank was formed by the amalgamation of Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank, Surguja Kshetriya Gramin Bank and Durg Rajnandgaon Gramin Bank. It currently has 626 branches in rural areas of Chhattisgarh.[3]
It functions under Regional Rural Banks' Act 1976 and is sponsored by State Bank of India.
It is under the ownership of Ministry of Finance, Government of India. It is sponsored by SBI & is jointly Owned by the Government of India, Government of Chhattisgarh and State Bank of India.
History
Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank (CGB) is one of the prominent Regional rural banks in India. According to Notification F. No. 7/9/2011-RRB dated 2 September 2013 issued by Govt. of India, Ministry of Finance, Department of Financial Services, the erstwhile Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank, Surguja Kshetriya Gramin Bank (SKGB) and Durg Rajnandgaon Gramin Bank (DRGB) were amalgamated.
On October 23, 2025, Ministry of Finance, Government of India announce the renaming of several Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) to simplify their names and align them with their states. Changes includes Chhattisgarh Rajya Gramin Bank becoming Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank and several others being renamed after requests from their sponsor banks. The functional jurisdiction and operations of these banks remain unchanged.[4]
Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank (2006-2013)
The Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank was a Regional Rural Bank (RRB) in Chhattisgarh, India, Established on June 30, 2006, through the amalgamation of Bilaspur-Raipur Kshetriya Gramin Bank, Bastar Kshetriya Gramin Bank and Raigarh Kshetriya Gramin Bank.
Surguja Kshetriya Gramin Bank
The Sarguja Kshetriya Gramin Bank was a RRB in Chhattisgarh established on 24 October 1979.
Durg Rajnandgaon Gramin Bank
The Durg Rajnandgaon Gramin Bank was a RRB in Chhattisgarh, established on March 12, 1980.
