Candela is a 2021 thriller drama film directed by Andrés Farías (in his directorial debut)[2] from a screenplay he co-wrote with Laura Conyedo,[3] based on the novel of the same name by Rey Andújar.[4]
Synopsis
The lives of a premiscuous high-society girl, a corrupt policeman trying to repair his relationship with his daughter, and a drag queen seeking justice intertwine after the death of poet and drug dealer Renato Castrate, meanwhile a hurricane approaches Santo Domingo.

Release
Candela had its world premiere on September 16, 2021, at the 11th Fine Arts International Film Festival,[6] then screened on September 22, 2021, at the 16th Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival,[7] on September 28, 2021, at the 30th Biarritz Film Festival,[8] and on March 26, 2022, at the 38th Reflets du Cinéma Ibérique et Latino-américain.[9]
The film was commercially released on October 14, 2021, in Dominican theaters.[10]
