The CHU Saint-Pierre (French) or UMC Sint-Pieter (Dutch), meaning "St. Peter's Hospital", is a general hospital in central Brussels, Belgium.[1]
History
St. Peter's Hospital was established around 1150 as a leper colony, run by a community of lay brothers and sisters, outside the city's walls.[2] The current hospital complex was inaugurated in 1935.[1]
Art
Grow in Freedom mural
In a 2023 collaboration between the Ukrainian street artists Sestry Feldman and the Belgian illustrator Teresa Zdralevich, a mural entitled Grow in Freedom was created at the CHU Saint-Pierre Hospital. The mural, which was dedicated to the anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, was painted on the wall of the hospital, which has provided financial aid to Ukrainian hospitals during the Russo-Ukrainian war.[3]
