Brian Burkheiser, also known as Scatterbrain, is an American singer. He is best known as the former co-lead vocalist for the band I Prevail.

Early life

Brian Burkheiser is from the state of Michigan, United States.[1] He was born on December 5, 1990 in the Detroit suburb of Southfield.[2]

Career

Burkheiser was formerly the co lead singer and founder of the metalcore band I Prevail.[3][4] founded in 2013.[5] Part of his band's rise to fame involved a cover of Taylor Swift's hit "Blank Space" that was posted on YouTube and part of the Punk Goes Pop collection and listed as a song on the Heart vs. Mind EP.[6][1]

After splitting from the band in May 2025,[1] Burkheiser embarked on a new solo project called Scatterbrain, described on its web page as "a genre-bending project fueled by raw emotion, reinvention, and mental-health awareness".[3] Owing to a legal dispute with I Prevail, he was unable to launch his solo project until February 5, 2026, when he announced the release of his first solo single, "Phases", on February 13.[7]

Personal life

Burkheiser has a rare medical condition called Eagle syndrome, which causes nerve pain in the face, neck and throat.[1]

In 2019, Burkheiser underwent treatment for a large polyp in his throat. He has also received help for his depression.[4][8]
