Borowa (also known locally as Czarna Góra is a mountain in the Wałbrzych Mountains (Góry Wałbrzyskie), part of the Central Sudetes in south-western Poland. With an elevation of 853.3 m (2,800 ft), it is the highest summit of the Wałbrzych Mountains.[1][3]

Geography

Borowa rises on the wooded ridge above the passes of Przełęcz Kozia and Przełęcz pod Borową, between neighbouring summits including Wołowiec and Jałowiec, on the border of the municipalities of Wałbrzych and Jedlina-Zdrój.[3] The peak lies within the Sudety Wałbrzyskie Landscape Park (Park Krajobrazowy Sudetów Wałbrzyskich).[1]

Geology

Borowa is built mainly of volcanic rocks, including rhyolite and trachybasalt (melaphyre), linked to past volcanic activity in the region.[3]

Tourism

A steel observation tower was built on the summit in 2017. The tower is 16.5 m (54 ft) high and has a distinctive twisted, hyperboloid-like form; it is a popular viewpoint over the Sudetes.[3][4]
