Bashir Magomedov (Russian: Башир Магомедович Магомедов; born 21 June 2002 in Metrada, Tsumadinsky District, Dagestan, Russia) is a Russian freestyle wrestler. He is a medalist at the Russian National Freestyle Wrestling Championships, a two-time U23 World champion, and the winner of the 2024 European U23 Wrestling Championships.[1]

Career

Magomedov began training in freestyle wrestling in the village of Mutsalaul, where he was introduced to the sport by his older brothers. He later trained at the UOR in Khasavyurt under coach Saigidakhmed Gamzatovich Magomedov.

On 10 March 2020, he won the North Caucasian Federal District cadet championships in Khasavyurt.[2] In September 2021, he won the bronze medal at the Russian Junior Championships in Naro-Fominsk.[3] On 24 October 2021, he won the Besik Kudukhov Junior Memorial tournament in Krasnodar.[4]

On 26 March 2022, he won the Russian Junior Championships in Kaspiysk.[5] In May 2022, he finished runner-up at the Ivan Poddubny Memorial in Moscow, losing in the final to Abasgadzhi Magomedov.[6] In June 2022, he won the bronze medal at the 2022 Russian National Freestyle Wrestling Championships in Kyzyl, defeating Zhargal Damdinov in the bronze medal match.[7]

In 2023, he won the Ali Aliyev International Tournament in freestyle wrestling, the Russian U23 Championships, and the 2023 U23 World Wrestling Championships. In 2024, he won the silver medal at the 2024 Russian National Freestyle Wrestling Championships, losing in the final to Zaur Uguev.[8] He also won the gold medal at the 2024 European U23 Wrestling Championships and repeated as U23 world champion in 2024.
